JDM Meet Malaysia : The power of social media
Gelegentlich frage ich mich, was es alles an Organisation und Vorbereitung braucht, um ein ordentliches Treffen auf die Beine zu stellen. Sicherlich muss man da an einige Sachen denken wie Location, Zeit, Parkplätze und natürlich massenweise Flyers, Posts in Foren, auf Facebook und Twitter spammen. Ein enormer Aufwand, mag man hier denken. Falsch.
Alles begann mit dem einzelnen Facebook-Status eines Freundes, am Mittwoch, dem 23. Oktober.

Es vergingen etwa 10 Minuten, da wurde die Statusmeldung geteilt. Und wieder geteilt. Und wieder. Leute markiert und „tagged“. Es schien als hätten die Leute Interesse an der Sache. Was aber dann am Freitag passierte, mit dem hatte wirklich niemand gerechnet.

Sometimes I ask myself, what does it need to organize a proper car meet ? Surely you need to think of alot of things like location, time, parking and you’ll need tons of flyers, post in forums, and spam into facebook and twitter as well. You might think it’s a huge effort right ? Wrong.
It all started with a simple Facebook status update from a good friend of mine, on Wednesday, the 23. October. This is the Original Post;

After like 10 minutes, someone shared the status. Then again. And again. People got tagged. It seems like alot of people were interested. But how it turned out on Friday, exceeded our expectations by far.
Es erschienen rund 200 Autos. Unglaublich. Und das ganz ohne grosse Promotion und Ankündigung. Hier sieht man schön, wie eine beeindruckende Kolonne Evos in den Business Complex einfahren. Es war eine wahrlich schöne Parade von JDM Legenden.
Around 200 cars appeared on the scene. And this without heavy promoting and announcing. Here you can see, how a convoy of Evos are entering the Oasis Business complex. It was really a beautiful parade of JDM Legends.
Es war alles vertreten, was Rang und Namen hat: Von Skylines….

…über Oldschool von den Backwheels Bitches…
…to Oldschool rides from the Backwheels Bitches…
…und natürlich mehreren Supras.
Ich denke, insgeheim haben die die Leute nur auf einen solchen Event gewartet. Klang Valley hat zwar viele JDM’s, aber große Treffen wurden in letzter Zeit nicht abgehalten. Daher kam diese Gelegenheit wie gerufen und das erklärt auch die hohe Zahl an Teilnehmern.
…And of course multiple Supras. I think, that somehow these guys were just waiting for an opportunity like this. Klang Valley is the home to many JDM cars, but lately, gathering and meeting up was quite rare. Therefore, this was a real good call, and thus the high number of cars.
Die Nacht war angenehm kühl und die Atmosphäre sehr entspannt. Man kannte sich, und wenn nicht, wurden neue Bekannschaften geschlossen. Alle redeten miteinander und fachsimpelten über Autos. Nach mehreren Gesprächen stellte ich fest, dass eigentlich niemand mit so einer grossen Teilnehmeranzahl gerechnet hatte. Alle waren positiv überrascht. Und dies hob natürlich auch die Laune.
The night was comfortably cool and the atmosphere relaxed. Most of the folks knew eachother, and if not, new aquintances were made. Everyone was talking to eachother and about their rides. After few talks with the guys I realized that nobody expected such a high number of cars. They were surprised in a positive way, which raised the mood.

Was mir am besten gefallen hat, war der Fakt, dass es praktisch keine Ricer gab. Keine Kindsköpfe, die grundlos ihre Motoren hochdrehen mussten, niemand der mit einer überhöhten Geschwindigkeit durch die kleinen Strassen heizen musste. Dieses Treffen hatte etwas, dass nicht alle haben: Stil und Klasse. Das fehlt leider heutzutage an sehr vielen Treffen vorallem, leider, in der JDM Szene. Ich denke, solche Treffen wie dieses sind rar. Und ich werde diesen Abend auch sehr gerne in Erinnerung behalten.
What impressed me the most, was the fact, that there was not a single ricer. No childish teenagers revving their engines, and no one speeding trough the narrow street. This meet had something, that not all meets have. Class. Alot of meetings lack class, if you ask me. Especially in the JDM scene, unfortunately. I think that meetings this awesome are very rare. And thats why I will enjoy remembering this. This was true JDM spirit.
Leider ist es mir nicht gelungen, alle Autos abzulichten. Umso mehr habe ich dafür in folgendem Video eingefangen. Ich hoffe euch gefällts, obwohl ich noch neu in der Videographie bin. Ein Video erzählt viel mehr. Enjoy !
